Happy 1st Birthday Chancy

We celebrated Chancy's 1st Birthday on November 20th, 2010! All day long we kept thinking the magical time that our puppy would stop her puppy behavior...but even a day later, she chewed up her Daddy's new dress shoes. Looks like we have another year of puppy behavior!

Her Grandma Birdie came by for a visit and brought her some bones and chew sticks. She loved them!

Chancy is 9 Months and 59Lbs

Our crazy puppy is now almost 60lbs. She still thinks she is a 11.5 pound puppy that we brought home. She still manages to get into things and likes to trash dig. Yes that is her with a trash can lid on.

Chancy is 7 months Old!

Well our crazy puppy is 53.5lbs and is 7 months old. I wish I could say she has grown out of her crazy puppy behavior but no....She has stopped digging probably because the chipmunk in the yard is no more.

Chancy in OBX

Chancy on the beach in OBX. She has not quite totally warmed up to the water yet. She needs to meet a puppy to show her the ways of the water dog.

Happy 6 Month Birthday Chancy!

Today our Puppy Chancy turns 6 months old! She is a growing puppy of 48 pounds now and her hair is starting to get more curly...looking more like the doodle she's growing up to be!

She's going on a long trip to OBX, NC in just a few days where she will learn how to swim in the Atlantic Ocean! We are hoping she'll get all of her puppy energy out and run and play in the sand and surf!

One Week Away From 6 Months

Well we are almost to Ms. Chancy's 6 month birthday and she is a whopping 46 Lbs. puppy. The vet said when we took her in for her last appointment 2 weeks ago she though she would still only be around 60 pounds even though she has bear size paws. We think maybe the vet might be smoking something because I think she is on her way to 70+.

Chancy had her surgery!

On April 29th Chancy had her spay surgery. She came through it like a champ. Actually if I did not see the small incision on her belly I would not know the vet did a thing. It was tough trying to keep her quiet since she still had tons of energy. We have been working more with Chancy to get her to be not such a chompy puppy. Her Grandma Birdie decided to shake a can with a few coins in it when she was being bad(digging…chomping…etc). So far it has worked fairly well. No she has not stopped digging quite yet but there are some behaviors that are definitely better than the were a month ago.

Chancy is 5 Months and 42Lbs. Today!

Chancy is 5 months old today. She has not turned into a perfect puppy just yet. We have been working on the jumping up on people using the “Bonker”. The trainer has told us to say “No” when she jumps up and then throw a rolled up towel at her. We treat her when she does not jump up or try to grab something off the table. She is doing better but still has a ways to go. When the trainer comes today we have to work on her going Cujo puppy for no reason. She does that to Andrea and Grandma Birdie for no reason at times.

Chancy to meet Grammy tonight!

This morning Andrea took Chancy to A Dogs Day Out (ADDO) to for doggie day care so she will play all day and get all of her puppy energy out. Tonight she meets her Grammy (Andrea's Grandmother) and all of her cousins, Grandma & Grandpa Buchanan as well as Aunt Dolly Dawn and Uncle John! Andrea's parents are having a cookout since we have the Buchanan Family visiting from Pennsylvania. Chancy needs to be on her best behavior tonight. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

Only One More Puppy Tooth Left...

Chancy lost one of the big chompers today and she only has one left. She has really been chomping on her Mommy and was not on her best behavior for Grandma Birdie either, but for Daddy, she's been fine? What gives?! Well, she needed some special attention from her Mommy caretakers as she was struggling with getting rid of one of her bottom eye teeth.

Last night, she let Jim play with a tug toy and Jim was able to snap it out...we kept the tooth and it will go in the Chancy file...one more to go and hopefully this chompy puppy will be a sweet puppy again!

Chancy's First Visit to Grandma Birdie's!

Chancy was trying to be on her best behavior yesterday when she had her first visit to Grandma Birdie's. The doors to the bedrooms had to be shut off so that she couldn't get into anything... She explored the house and loved the fenced in back yard. She found many things to dig up in the yard including an old McDonald's Cup Lid, and a Solar Light Panel.

Grandma spoiled her with lots of treats and a 4 pack of Chicken McNuggets and a few french fries.

We are guessing she did pretty good as Grandma Sent home her Easter basket for her!

Chancy Behaving Badly

Ms. Chancy was not the bestest puppy yesterday. She was a digger puppy and she has now mastered the fine art of the “air chomp” soon to be followed by the more advanced “acrobatic air chomp”. Yes I almost had to stop Andrea from putting her on Craig’s List.

Chancy's First Annapolis Doodle Romp

It was a sunny but chilly morning yesterday when Chancy dragged her parents to his first Annapolis Doodle Romp. She had a BIG time there with all the doodles and especially her new found friend, Gabriel who is just a few days younger than Chancy.

The objective was to get her so tired that she would be a welcome guest to her Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Keith's house later on Saturday afternoon for Chelsea and Evan's Bday party! She was pretty good, but loves to chase little kids and sometimes takes a nibble or two! She had a great time and slept the whole way home from Warrenton back to Alexandria!

Chancy Graduates from Puppy Kindergarten

Chancy did really well at Woofs Training Academy in Arlington, VA! She was the "head of her class". When she first started there about 6 weeks ago, she was the most shy puppy there...and seemed to only want to make friends with the tiny Chiuaua puppy who weighed 3 pounds. By the 2nd week, she was integrated with the larger puppies (all ranging from 10-16 weeks). Two weeks ago they were calling her the "cruise director" as she was rounding up all the puppies for playtime!

Last night was her last night in Puppy Kindergarten! Chancy was praised by her trainer and really enjoyed the class...we did too, she sleeps all night after them!

We start Puppy Basics on April 21st! Chancy is looking forward to it!

Happy 4 Month Birthday Chancy!

Our little girl turned 4 Months on March 20th! We are still debating on her weight... she was 34 pounds the night before and 32 pounds in the morning on her birthday! The rule of thumb for Goldendoodles is to take their weight at 4 months, double it and add 10 pounds..that should be their adult weight! So we are looking at 74 - 78 pound Doodle!

She also on her birthday was able to do a new task. Jump on Mommy & Daddy's bed without assistance. There is no more safety zones in the house! She's getting bigger every day and a little more calm (except around 6:30AM and 1:30PM and 6:30PM)...she is known as Crazy Puppy during those hours!

She's recovered from her Kennel Cough and is all set for Doggie Training again at Woofs on Thursday night!

Took chancy to the Vet

We took Ms. Chancy (aka Crazy Puppy) to her 4:30pm appointment. The vet says she just needs some cough suppressant because she does not have a fever and antibiotics would not be necessary. Lets hope the cough suppressant will make her sleepy as well.
We also weighed her when she was at the Vet and she is now
30.2 Pounds!

Chancy had a busy weekend...but is sick today...

Chancy had a busy weekend with a puppy party at Woofs on Saturday morning and then meeting her cousins for the first time in Warrenton, VA at Grandma & Grandpa Buchanan's house. She had so much fun..we thought she'd sleep through the night.

About 12:30AM she started coughing and making sounds like she was dry heaving. Poor thing...Jim realized by around 3AM that she probably had Kennel Cough. We are taking her to the vet this afternoon to get the official diagnosis and some medication to make her feel better....

Chancy and Bilbo first play date!

We took chancy over to Bilbo for them to play together for the 1st time. They both had a good time and Bilbo chomped the crazy puppy back. Chancy was not afraid of Mr. B and went after him with her little sharp chompers.

Chancy goes to vet for her 15 week visit

Took Chancy to the vet to get her last round of puppy shots. She is now a 26.5 doodle. The vet says she will get to be around 65lbs. so she has a lot of growing to do.

Chancy at 14wks

Chancy is now 25lbs and getting bigger every minute. She has gone to her 2nd puppy party at Woofs and is playing more with other dogs-The more she plays the more tired she gets and that is a good thing. She goes in one week to get her rabies shot and then the vet will give us an idea on how big she will be when she gets full grown.

Crazy 13 week old Puppy!

Chancy is growing like a weed 23Lbs. now. She had been to her first puppy elementary class and puppy play date at woofs. She had to be put in the shy puppy area since she was afraid of the rough and tumble puppies in the class. She met a chiwawa puppy that she wanted to play with that was so cute and 1/4 her size.

Chancy got her first hair cut on the 22nd of Feb. She now does not look like a powder puff. Her legs have gotten longer and her paws have gotten bigger.

Snow Puppy!

Chancy thinks she must be an Alaskan Husky with all this snow.

What walks down stairs...

Chancy does now. She just walked down the small steps from the bedroom. I think we will hold off on the bigger stairs till she is a little bigger. I also taught her to sit using the clicker. Next up “Lay-Down and Paw”.

Almost a full week in her new home...

And Chancy is being ultra comfortable here. She has determined that the yard is an obstacle course and all the nice landscaping gives her places to lay, dig and run through...oh..and eat!

She is up to 15 pounds as of this afternoon. Grandma Birdie (Jim's Mom) has been staying with our little girl during the day while we are at work and spoiling her of course. We don't know what we'd do without that special attention for her while we are at work.

Last night she only got us up once...and maybe that was because Mommy had to get up and go to the Bathroom too! We are ready for some sleep! Happy Friday!

12 1/2 Pounds at First Vet Appointment!

Ms. Chancy is 12.5 pounds. She got 2 vaccinations and started her preventative kennel cough treatment. We will start her on interceptor the 1st of Feb. and can apply topical frontline today. Her vet Dr. Kroshack said she would better be able to tell her adult size at 4 months.

Getting ready to take Chancy to the Vet for her First Visit.

We are going to take Chancy to the Vet for her first appointment. I weighed her here at home yesterday-she was 11.5 pounds on January 18th, we will see what the vet says about Ms. Chancy’s big paws.

Chancy's first night

It was Chancy’s first night here and she did really well. She has not gone in the house yet, Andrea and I have taken her out after she wakes up from her puppy naps and she goes right away. Chancy went into her crate around 9pm last night and did not make a sound until 12:15pm. She had to go out 2 more times at 1:45 and 3:15 but she went potty right away. At 6am she wanted to get up to get a drink, since she will have to get up on our schedule this is not too early for her.

Our New Puppy Chancy!

We just picked up our new puppy all 10 lbs. of her.

Only 1 day left till Chancy lands

Have the Enzyme, Bitter Apple and the last of the baby gates ready to go. We have a 9:30 appointment at the breeders to go pick out Chancy (This is going to be a tough choice). I know they all will look different than they did in the pictures but hopefully one of them will pick us and make it easy.

Chancy's First Necklace

We went to PetSmart and got her first collar and dog tag. The tag we got is a bit too big so we will have to get the smaller size. We don’t want the gold medal size tag to tip her over on her nose.

Preparing for Chancy's Arrival

Christmas Day here was fun to open all of Chancy's gifts! Her Grandma Birdie had a whole bag full of toys and goodies...Also a beautiful card and letter written to the puppy! Her Grandma and Grandpa Buchanan got her some Calming spritz...guessing they think she's going to be a bit of a handful at first?

Steph and the kids got her a cool stocking filled with bunches of toys and Sherry, Randy, Jackson and Bilbo provided some cool gifts and one of Bilbo's stuffed Monkeys so Chancy can pick up his scent. Introductions will be soon after we arrive back in VA!

We got a message from the breeder that we are the first appt on 1/16/10. We will get to pick her out and take her home at 10:00AM that morning! We have to pick up some Purina Puppy One and we'll be all set.

So excited to be getting this close to picking up our new little love!
