K-9 Graduate Today!

Chancy graduated this morning from her K-9 Training Class. She has done amazing. Her final class today was healing while walking. She did a fantastic and Jim and I took her for a walk to the Park this afternoon to "practice" and she had tons of distractions but did really well. Here's a pic of her with her training team at K-9 Off Leash Training in Woodbridge. Congratulations Chancy. We are all so proud of you. Now, please, stop eating the cake off the counters :-)

A changed woman!

Our Chancy is a changed woman! 3 Lessons now with Nick and she listens and comes when called. Will sit next to your foot when you tell her to. She also knows the word "place"... Anything you tell her to go onto that looks like a place (blanket, towel, bed, platform, picnic table, etc) she will hop up and sit on it and not move until you give the command "break". It's amazing. She also can go from sit to down and back up again (puppy pushups)

One more lesson to go. Nick told us that we can trust her off leash now in the parks or wherever that she'll listen to us. Jim went to the park yesterday and she did great...even seeing other doggies there, she listened to Jim like there was no one else there!

Woo hoo... now, let's see if this translates into no more eating my cakes! :-)

Chancy is becoming a changed Doodle

We have found our new best friend...the e-collar SD-400. I found a training facility that guarenteed that in a few short lessons you would have a changed dog that would be obedient (I know sounded too good to be true) the owner Nick of offleashleashk9training (www.offleashk9training.com/) had great reviews and some impressive YouTube videos of his results. If I did not see the changes in Chancy myself I would not believe it, now I have been working with her every day on the commands Nick and company teach 1st lesson [Come,Sit,Break] They work amazingly well. The ecollar has gotten a bad reputation because people use them as a punishment more than a training tool. The way Nick teaches it the collar is like getting the dog to pay attention even when they are not on the leash.

Chancy Behaving Badly Part-(umm I Lost Count)

Well it has been a while since an update on Chancy. I can’t say she has been the bestest of puppies. A few days ago Andrea made a Lemon cake and put it downstairs to cool. She was trying to get the cake outside of Chancy range which is pretty much on any counter top. Unfortunately she closed the door to the basement but did not latch it shut. Ms. Chancy managed to open that door and ate 1/2 of the Lemon cake undetected. Andrea and I found out about 9pm after the baby had gone to sleep and we were ready to do that ourselves (Andrea was not very happy-and Chancy is not getting another special pancake made for her so she said). Luckily Andrea had bought double what she had needed for the cake preparation and she made another cake and it was left to cool in a room with the door closed.

Happy 1st Birthday Chancy

We celebrated Chancy's 1st Birthday on November 20th, 2010! All day long we kept thinking the magical time that our puppy would stop her puppy behavior...but even a day later, she chewed up her Daddy's new dress shoes. Looks like we have another year of puppy behavior!

Her Grandma Birdie came by for a visit and brought her some bones and chew sticks. She loved them!

Chancy got to go out and stretch her legs at the Annapolis Doodle Romp the Day before Halloween!
